Everyone loves a bright and an attractive smile which makes them want to know the secrets of making their teeth whiter whenever they feel their smile is not bright enough. There are plenty of teeth whitening products, which have chemicals that bleach teeth, to choose from. Since most teeth whitening products use chemicals to bleach teeth, most people are worried.
If you intend to whiten your teeth but also want to avoid these chemicals, then there are some options you could try out.
Try oil pulling
Oil pulling is a traditional Indian folk remedy that was meant to improve the oral hygiene and also to remove toxins from the body. Some of the oils that you could try to use are a sunflower, sesame and coconut oil. To oil pull, put 1 teaspoon of oil in your mouth and then push and pull the oil between your teeth for 15-20 minutes. Oil works by reducing bacteria and plaque that causes gingivitis in the mouth.
Brushing with Baking Soda
Baking soda has natural teeth whitening properties. It works by scrubbing away surface stains on your teeth since it is mildly abrasive. It also creates an alkaline environment in the mouth, which slows down the growth of bacteria in the mouth cavity. To use this remedy, you will need to mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of water and then brush your teeth with the paste. Do this every day for two weeks.
hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a natural bleaching agent that also kills bacteria in the mouth. Take care when using this remedy since strong concentrations of hydrogen peroxide will cause gum irritation and tooth sensitivity. To use this remedy, mix 2 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and gently brush your teeth with the mixture.
Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has acetic acid that kills bacteria effectively. For this reason, it could also be used to clean and whiten teeth. You should note that this remedy could erode your enamel if used every day. So, try to limit the time that apple cider vinegar is in contact with your teeth. To use it as mouthwash, dilute it with water and swish it around in your mouth for several minutes.
Fruits and vegetables
A diet that contains a reasonably high amount of fruits and vegetables may also be good for your teeth. Crunchy, raw fruits and vegetables can also scrub plaque off your teeth. Some of the fruits that you could crunch are strawberries and pineapples.
